new frame

So i decided to try to find a different frame for my bike. the current one isn't really my size, and it;s not even an actual road frame. So i spend some time on craigslist trying to see what's out there. and i found a pretty nice old bike.

Its a Maruishi RX5, probably a 1984 or 1985. Of 8 road bikes made this one was second from the bottom on the ladder. That gold/blue tubing decal on the seat tube above the bottom bracket doesn't say Tange but the main tubes of the frame are double-butted Tange Chro-Mo so that isn't bad.

Components on it when new (Shimano Z type brake set and derailleurs, and a SR crank) weren't anything special, and when new it had alloy Araya rims. That doesn't really matter to me though I'm just using the frame. I gave the rear wheel to a guy at the shop who just had his stolen, also gave him the handlebars, his gear shifters and break leavers where pretty fucked up.

The only thing that kind of sucks is that the paint looks kinda nicked up, but that's not a huge deal, maybe this way it's less likly to get stolen. I might paint it later who knows.

So, i striped it down to the frame:

cleaned it pretty good. I like that blue.
the only plarts i kept other then the frame and fork where the bottom bracket, headset, front break and seat post.

I got some other parts form a differnt bike:

The crank i think is doing to be much better them my last one, and i think it looks pretty sweet. My current one is a one piece, it dosn't look bad, but it sucks for fixed gear.

And then of course i will use the same wheels and seat. The handlebars will be different, i actually purchased some new ones, they are awesome.

Hopefully i can put everything together tomorrow.
